I’ve written much about what prophetic art is and how God wants to speak to you and create with you to bring life, love and hope to others, but we haven’t yet explored how to interpret what He is saying through our work.

Artwork can be considered a reflection of the artist. It can give us a glimpse of what’s going on in their life and heart – expressing joy, bliss, pain or sadness. It can reveal ideology and stances on issues. It also reflects the artist’s skill and understanding of design and medium. It’s very easy for it to become a reflection our own self-worth.

If you haven’t read the first part of this two-part post, I’d encourage you to go back and read it now. It sets the foundation for what I’m about to write here, and if you’re struggling to hear God’s voice, it gives biblical precedence for how much God actually wants to speak to you.

Humans have an inherent need for connection. We see that connection expressed in our relationships with family, friends, lovers, animals, or even inanimate objects like how a child connects with a stuffed animal. We actively seek to bond with other creatures. That deep, inherent desire stems from our creation. When God created us, He did with the intention for relationship. God desires connection with us.

This is my very first prophetic painting. I made sometime in high school, and it came out of a place of becoming self-confident.

Something I have wrestled with for some time, is the pressure for each of the prophetic words attached to my artwork to fit a specific mould.

Worship is a vital practice in Christianity. In essence, worship is defined as a formal expression of adoration, reverence and honour in homage to a deity. That’s not a terrible definition, but it leaves us thinking about religious rites, sacrifices, or solemn monks, and unfortunately, to many Christians, it means just singing songs on a Sunday morning. But worship is actually so much more.

Humans have the incredible ability to create beauty. Sometimes that beauty has a purpose, sometimes that beauty is simply to be appreciated.
